Tom McCarthy is the Engineering Director and Chief Product Owner (CPO) for the Digital Product Development (DPD) team under the Digital Transformation Integration Office (DTIO) at Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD). He has worked in multiple leadership roles at Missile Systems for the last 20 years, previously serving as the director of the Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Center (MSA) before his current role. Prior to that, he has served as deputy center manager for Advanced Systems Development Center and the MSA center; department manager within MSA; and lead engineer for an international consortium in pursuit of NATO Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) architecture development. In addition, he has served as simulation lead on multiple efforts and was previously the Technology Lead for Systems Simulation on the Applied Systems Engineering Technology Pyramid. Tom was also one of the original co-founders of the current Raytheon standard for Integrated Flight Simulations, genSim. He holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
